Shockoe Records is a Richmond-based label developing and empowering Virginia's musical artists and the RVA creative arts community. Shockoe Records provides artists with marketing, booking, merchandise production, sync licensing, album production, and more to bolster the artist’s career efforts. The Shockoe Records team strives to insure its curated roster of artists to not only survive, but to thrive.

Shockoe Records is located on the second floor of the Shockoe Media building in the heart of Shockoe Bottom in Richmond Virginia.

The Richmond music scene doesn’t specialize in any genre, so neither do we!

Who are the current artists on the Shockoe Records roster?
Høly River: A multi-instrumental, drone-pop/Earth Folk duo, who’s music is inspired by the natural environment: flora, fauna, soil, stars, and the human experience.
Los Hermanos Alacranes: A four-piece rock band that performs original music in both English and Spanish
REIN: A pop/rock guitar hero, and named one of Richmond's top 5 guitarists
Vexine: A four-piece “southern rock noir” band
Dr Weldon Hill: performer, composer, musicologist, and Jazz pianist

Absolutely! We aren't always accepting new musicians to our roster, but we love knowing who the talented creatives are in the area and we're always game to chat!
Does Shockoe Records offer distribution, marketing, or label services?
Shockoe Records facilitates a host of services including marketing, booking, merchandise production, sync licensing, album production, and more to bolster the artist’s career efforts. Shockoe Records provides artists with more autonomy, and most importantly, does not and will not own an artist’s intellectual property.

What does “Shockoe” refer to?
According to Wikipedia, Shockoe Bottom, historically known as Shockoe Valley, is an area in Richmond, Virginia, just east of downtown, along the James River. Shockoe Bottom contains much of the land included in Colonel William Mayo's 1737 plan of Richmond, making it one of the city's oldest neighborhoods.
